Discover who we are, what we stand for, and why we are the right choice for you.

Ring any bells?

Translations riddled with typos and inconsistencies. Translation providers ghosting you right before the deadline. Quality issues and reassignments in the middle of the project. Stressful late deliveries. Translation that’s out of context, or in a style which fails to meet your expectations. A confused development team with no localization guidance or oversight. Or even unedited machine translation passed off as human translation…

You deserve better.

More importantly, your customers deserve better: we are Context Heroes.

Who are we?

Context Heroes is a modern, forward-thinking translation and localization service provider, based in Prague, Czech Republic. Founded in 2023, we specialize in working with the videogame and software industries, and we’re passionate about helping our clients reach their audiences around the globe, whatever the context of their needs.

We’re fueled by an unapologetic desire to provide better translation and localization services. With over fifteen years of prior hands-on experience in all phases of translation and localization projects, including quality assurance, localization testing, localization engineering, and even in-house AAA videogame development, we possess the expertise and unique insights into what businesses, translators and other language professionals truly need to work back to back, shoulder to shoulder on a common goal: to create superior and engaging translations and localized content that captures the attention of millions of customers, whether they are gamers or software users. With our help, spark emotions, create needs, and drive sales across international markets.

Simply put, we know what high-quality translation and localization services look like, and more importantly, we know how to deliver them. And of course, as heroes of context should, we’re not afraid to fight for excellence on your behalf!

Heroes? Context?

At Context Heroes, we’re inspired by the qualities of traditional heroes: courage, outstanding achievements, excellence, and noble acts. While we may not be heroes in the conventional sense, and while our translation and localization work may not involve epic battles or daring feats (although the games we localize often do), we strive to exemplify heroism in our dedication to providing exceptional service. After all, our logo embodies these values and aspirations through Hermes, the messenger and herald of the gods and a god of communication — the ultimate context hero.

And then, there’s context. The concept of context is essential to what we do. It shapes the meaning, interpretation and significance of the content. Factors such as time, place, culture, history, language, and social norms must be carefully considered to provide optimal results. In translation and localization, understanding and leveraging context ensures accurate, impactful, and appropriate content for the target audience — your customers.

We are Context Heroes. We excel at adapting source content to suit its intended context. Our clients are heroes, too, honoring us by inviting us to participate in their unique stories and partnering with us to achieve exceptional results. Together — with both our clients and carefully selected partners — we forge meaningful connections with your customers through expertly translated and localized content.

Translators are the shadow heroes of literature, the often forgotten instruments that make it possible for different cultures to talk to one another, who have enabled us to understand that we all, from every part of the world, live in one world.

Why choose us?

Industry experience

With over fifteen years of prior experience in all phases of the localization and translation process, as well as in-house AAA videogame development and publishing pipelines, we possess unique insights that enable us to tailor our services to your needs and nip any potential issues in the bud.

Established by experts......................

With experience as a translator, proofreader, editor, localization tester, and an eight-year tenure as an in-house game dev localization manager, our founder, Vojtěch Schubert, has participated in 160+ videogame localization projects, and is uniquely positioned to tackle your projects as well. Read his story below.

An extensive network of language professionals

Translators, proofreaders, copy editors, localization testers. We collaborate with an extensive network of talented, carefully selected, qualified, and experienced language professionals, proven through countless successfully and heroically delivered projects. We offer expertise, tangible results, and excellent value for money.

No compromises, and unwavering commitment to quality

We don’t compromise on quality for bigger profits, nor do we hire the cheapest translators we can find. Success for our clients, and, ultimately, ourselves, means employing and fairly remunerating experienced language professionals, who’ll pour their heart and soul into your project.

Latest technologies and best practices

We work with the latest industry-standard translation technologies, including translation management systems, computer-aided translation tools, quality check workflows, and term bases. The advantages are an efficient workflow with increased quality, accuracy, and overall consistency — not to mention optimized costs for you! None of this, however, should be confused with machine translation and artificial intelligence.

Fairly remunerated and treated language professionals

Unlike some of the giant translation mega-corporations, we don’t have to worry about keeping shareholders happy. We believe in fairly compensating our language professionals, knowing this translates into (pun intended!) greater engagement and a far superior standard of work. This results in better reception and higher sales of your game, product or service internationally. We also support #TranslatorsInTheCredits, and whenever we can, we do our best to ensure the names of our language professionals appear in the credits of videogames we work on.

We are focused specialists, not generalists

You probably won’t catch us translating medical reports, marriage certificates or scientific analysis papers, and the like. We’re not one of the language service providers who’ll cater to retail customers and then take on a videogame or software project on the side just for the heck of it. We don’t do everything. But what we do, we do exceptionally well, because it requires a specific set of skills and knowledge that generalists simply don’t have: for direct business clients, we provide translation and localization of video games, software, apps, products and services, marketing and subtitling.

Flexibility and attention to your needs .

Whatever the scope or budget of your project, we want to hear about it. We’ll do our best to accommodate your needs, so don’t hesitate to talk to us.

And, finally...

Human linguistic acumen - not MT or AI

We believe every word should be worth its weight. We appreciate the nuances of certain diction, the idioms and cadence of punchy dialogue, the emotive charge of a sentiment well expressed. And we go to heroic lengths to nail a context. Correct style? Check. Theme and rheme? Of course. Proper register and terminology? You bet. High-level creative remits? Absolutely. To ensure flawless translation, we focus on these and many more linguistic subtleties and provide a human touch — something that machine translation and large language models (AI) can never do.

That’s not to say we’re technophobes! Far from it — we’ve done our fair share of MT and AI experiments, and we stay in touch with all the latest developments and trends. Once these technologies prove beneficial for our clients and their products, with their approval, we’ll readily implement them into our workflows. But today is not that day. For now, make no mistake: nothing surpasses a skilled, experienced, and qualified human translator.

Founder’s story

Context Heroes was founded by Vojtěch Schubert in 2023. He’s served in the translation and localization trenches in all essential roles: translator, proofreader, editor, localization tester, as well as localization manager. Read on to learn more about Vojtěch.

Uniquely positioned to lead a translation and localization solutions provider and realizing he could utilize his localization industry insight and experience for the benefit of his clients, Vojtěch founded Context Heroes in 2023. But it all began in 2007 when he provided his first professional translation from English into Czech for a translation agency in his hometown of Olomouc, Czech Republic. His passion for English developed during his Bachelor’s studies in English and Applied Economics, mainly through workshops on fiction translation, and it was solidified during his Master’s in English Language Translation, where he, with the great help of the Czech localization community and his clients at the time, wrote a pioneering thesis on the professional videogame localization process in the Czech Republic.

Vojtěch also studied linguistics and translation in Sweden, where he gained a broader understanding of intercultural exchange and communication, as well as cultural differences and general unifying points of people from all corners of the world. By this point, he had already undertaken work on videogame localization projects for both Czech and international clients, mainly as a translator and localization tester. His focus deepened in 2013 during a localization testing internship at Electronic Arts Spain, where he learned the ins and outs of EA’s localization testing workflows, followed by a contract and an on-site project to test the Czech localization of Battlefield 4.

In 2015, Vojtěch became the Localization Producer at Bohemia Interactive, the oldest and largest Czech videogame developer. He revamped BI’s localization program, established a new team, implemented quality assurance processes, and professionalized the existing localization pipelines.

He also helped developers to maintain high-quality in-game English source text, and introduced computer-aided translation tools and management systems. While reducing costs, he increased the quality of Bohemia’s translation output, and with basic localization engineering knowledge, he helped shape the new generation of Bohemia’s proprietary localization tools for the Enfusion Engine. Vojtěch has also worked as the lead Czech translator for software companies such as Evernote and Doist.

Throughout his career, Vojtěch has participated in the localization of 160+ video games, translated millions of words, managed thousands of hours of localization projects, worked hundreds of hours on localization testing tasks, and helped ship multiple AAA game titles. Some of his favorite localization projects include TES V: Skyrim, The Witcher 2, DayZ, Arma 3, Arma Reforger, Battlefield 4, Dishonored, and Black Mirror 2 and 3.

Vojtěch also regularly attends public localization and translation conferences as well as invitation-only localization focus groups, and draws inspiration from his industry peers.

With his extensive experience, proven track record, vast network of industry professionals, and dedication to staying current with industry best practices and developments, Vojtěch and his Context Heroes are well-equipped to address the translation and localization needs that businesses face today.

Founding Context Heroes was, therefore, the next logical step on his mission to help businesses from the gaming, software, and tech industries and beyond conquer the Czech and global markets.

When Vojtěch isn’t working, he is an avid motorcyclist, gamer, traveler, hobbyist photographer, and music lover.
